This round of Characters of Egypt 2009 is expected to host tribesmen representing 21 tribes scattered throughout Egypt. From Matrouh, in the far west-north corner, to Sinai, to the Southern Desert on the Egyptian-Sudanese borders, all are gearing up for this grand event, with some expected to travel more than 1500km to participate in this festival.
The event will be comprised of a series of games, races and sportive encounters. The premise hosts a cinema tent that will screen documentaries on life in the desert. The venue also has a conference room where specialists and tribesman will give lectures on topics ranging from fauna and flora, customs and tribal law, ecosystems and eco-tourism, medicinal plants and unconventional remedies. And providing a direct link to the world, LinkdotNet will have a tent equipped with WiFi Internet and computers that will be open for use by all attendees.
Karim Beshara CEO of LINKdotNET stated that: "Tribal heritage represents one of Egypt’s most important and overlooked resources and this event is an ideal forum to unify the Bedouin from all 4 corners of the country. We are very pleased to have this opportunity as we are firm believers in the importance of communication and this is just another way of promoting general good will through interaction and communication in an informal yet informative activity"
